1 Week

Cady is a week old today...awesome. Her first appointment with the pediatrician was today and it went well. She didn't fuss at all until they went to weigh her. When we left the hospital she weighed 7 lbs 9 oz. As of today she weighs 8 lbs 12 oz. Yea...thats 1 lb 3 oz in 5 days. She loves eating. She didn't really gain much in height. Still about 21. And of course, after the assistant left, but before the doctor came in, Cady pooed. But all in all it was a good visit and the doctor said she should be rolling soon...we'll see. Her next appt. is June 26.

Cady's First Days

So Cady's first day home was Yesterday. It was fun, and she eats A LOT more now that she is at home. At the hospital she was downing 2 oz per feeding. Then she would be fed every couple hours. At home she would still eat just 2 oz at a feeding, but then would get hungry sometimes after just 1 hour or so. Today she had 5.5 oz withing 2.5 hours. Of course a result of that was a hearty diaper. Overnight with her isn't so bad. I was awake at some point every hour except for 2 and 4, I slept completely through both those hours. The hardest part of the day with Cady is early afternoon. When the afternoon sun hits our window it gets a bit warmer and she is not a fan of being hot. She is more fussy when she is hot but all we have to do is turn the air on and swaddle her and she is Number 1 A OK. On another note, Reesey is fussier. Now that she doesn't get as much attention, she carries her toys more often and cries while walking to the living room. Silly cat. That is all for now.

New Arrival

Awesome.
Cady is here. She arrived at 5:09AM on May 19,2009. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 13.6 oz with a height of 21 inches. I couldn't be happier. She is beautiful and badass. Yea that's right. I said it.
She really hasn't cried much. I know it has only been one whole day so far but she only cried when she was born, and when she gets hungry. And she is eating much better now then when she started. We started her on Similac for the first three feedings but we have Enfamil now. She seems to like it better.
She also is an awesome burper. That is definitely a word. Yup. I also changed her first poo diaper today. I will spare the details and just say she made it challenging. Yea. She also spit up today. I think it was from eating too fast, but of course the nurse questioned my burping ability. Yea I know, she must be crazy.
So anyway, Cady will be coming home Thursday. Her only medical issue is the hematoma on her dome, but it is not unusual and should subside on its own. Awesome. I will be putting more pictures and videos of her up as soon as I get my camera home. And I am sure Retta will blog when she gets home. Thanks for stopping by.

Books

So...tonight we bought Cady some new books, and I figured it would be a good time to list what all books we have(why not). Tonight we bought Lucky Little Duck and The Complete Peter Rabbit Library. I know..you're thinking.."gee Matt, that is awesome." Yes, it is. To continue, we also have The Big Book of Little, which mostly has stories and excerpts from stories relating to "little"(most of the stories have little in the title, i.e. The Little Mermaid). Then we have Princess Stories(self-explanatory) written by same author of BBoL. We have Millie Moo, Good Night Moon, The Brave Penguin, and a book about Penguins. Then there's The Adventures of Prickly Porky, Velveteen Rabbit, The Night Before Christmas, The Poky Little Puppy, and Barnyard Dance. And finally our Dr. Seuss collection: Hop on Pop, Go Dog Go, Are You My Mother, The Thinks you can Think, Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, The Cat in the Hat, The Cat in the Hat Comes Back, and Fox in Socks(which by the way are in order of difficulty from easiest to hardest for a child, my opinion). So keep this in mind if you plan on buying us any books. I feel better now. I will probably b-log again tonight with pictures of Cady's room so until then.

Cady's Nikes

Cady got some new shoes today. The ladies at the receiving dock at work had a sort of baby shower for her today. She got a new blanket, some side-button shirts, wipes, and these badass shoes. Awesometacular. She won't be able to wear them for a while though, because they are size 5. Still badass. Thanks for listening. Peace up...A-town down.
